Shamanic Training
Explore the benefits and experience of personalized shamanic training
at Drumming the Soul Awake
One of my early teachers said these wise words: "A shaman is someone whose shamanizing works." In other words, it is not owning tools, curious "power" objects, costumes, songs, prayers and ideas that makes someone's healing or ceremonial work effective.
These are all part of the work, and sacred objects do carry their own kind of power. But it is a subtle, mysterious element that is at work in shamanic work, and it is that element that gets trained. That element is your connection to Spirit, and Spirit's support of you. What gets trained is your foundational relationship to the life force. This is not the same as being loved by God, and it is not the same thing being really spiritual or feeling very devoted. Shamanic training is about working with power. Hundreds of workshops are taught in techniques and ideas, but the real work that a shamanic student goes through is about opening a channel to Spirit so that power can flow through them.
Drumming the Soul Awake offers training in different ways. All of the classes taught month by month are a form of training. We also offer periodic weeks or months-long trainings. We focus on the core elements described below.
