Patricia Choate: Who I Am

A shamanic practitioner with 30+ years of study with a wide variety of indigenous and non-indigenous shamanic teachers. This includes a year-long training program followed by healing practices training through The Power Path school in New Mexico.

Extensive study and ceremony with teachers in the Amazon Jungle of Peru, working with a variety of plant medicines designed to gather power.

From the studies above, I've learned to work with a variety of plant medicines. I’ve learned the potent tradition of singing healing prayers into the body (icaros), and practices such as using and feathers, rattles, and bones as tools for prayer and healing.

Student and practitioner of the intensive “Living in Process” work – a modality of spiritual development and healing developed by Anne Wilson Schaef, PhD.

Deep study of theosophy, esoteric psychology, and meditation, including Transcendental Meditation and Tibetan Buddhist meditation.

A former director, choreographer, actress, stage singer and voice coach with (perhaps an unhealthy) devotion to Shakespeare. I consider my year-long intensive study of Shakesperean text, voice and movement with Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, Massachusetts to be an initiatory expansion of healing skills.

More About Patti

Holder of a Master of Science Degree in Applied Anthropology, with a focus on Women and Spirituality.

Licensed Alcohol and Addictions Counselor with 17 years of counseling experience at addiction healing centers, including Hazelden Foundation and Nuway Alliance. In 2015, I was asked to create a family counseling program for Silkworth Lodge treatment center on the Isle of Jersey in the UK.

I am a devotee of the divine feminine spirit, which is rooted in the divine mother earth. In “stories that sprang from the ground beneath our feet…women were the guardians of the natural world, the beating heart of the land, the bearers of wisdom, the root of spiritual and moral authority of the tribe” These words of Sharon Blackie echo every bit of my study and training throughout my life.
