Wednesday Shamanic Journey Group
The "Shamanic Journey" or "Soul Flight" is a technique found in nearly every indigenous culture using sustained drumming and an opening of the sacred vision in order to "journey" to the spirit world for insight, information and healing.
This is joyful, mysterious and transformational work in a casual, communal and welcoming environment. If you are new to shamanism, this is where to start. If you have journeying experience, this is a trusted, welcoming environment in which to continue building your relationship with Spirit.
This group is limited to 12. Questions: firstname.lastname@example.org
The shamanic journey is a core shamanic skill and an indescribably powerful and beautiful practice that will open your sacred imagination, re-shuffle your psychological structures, bring healing and powerful insights and alter your spiritual DNA. Journey work builds your relationship with your inner spiritual guidance, connects you to the awe of the Great Mystery in a new way. Journey work opens your mind, it nourishes your creativity and it brings healing.
The journey takes you to the “in-between” as the Celts called it: that liminal state of consciousness where mystics, poets, artists, and shamans go to receive revelation, inspiration, guidance, wisdom and "aha!" from the Other world: from the “inner shaman,” from spirit guides and teachers, from the Sacred Shaper of all – however you want to name it.
This class is appropriate for beginners and also for those who have been at it for a long while. Each session has a theme, an idea, or a meditation that provides a framework. If you are new to this technique and new to shamanism, no worries - I'll teach you.
This group is limited to 12. Students learn the core exercises, practices and concepts of shamanism including the three-tiered structure the cosmos (lower, middle and upper worlds) and the medicine wheel (or "Spirit Wheel"). We empower our "inner shaman" and learn the altered state of consciousness in which we are able to travel to the spirit world. We have open discussion about our fears and conundrums and experiences in shamanic practice, and these conversations are often the most enlightening part of the evening.
Drums and rattles are provided, or bring your own. Please refrain from wearing perfumes or scents. Refrain from alcohol before the class. Please feel free to bring a blindfold, scarf, bandana or some other covering for your eyes. Also feel free to bring a blanket or mat to lie on. (My rooms are carpeted and I also have some blankets and mats, but feel free to bring your own.)
