Are you seeking healing, or a deeper, effective spiritual life?

Many people today understand that their thoughts and attitudes actually construct their life. They understand that there are energies in nature, in the cosmos, that can be worked with as allies and helpers. They understand that, in a palpable way, each of us dreams our own life, and we enact that dream.  They understand that the rational mind - as powerful and helpful as it is - does not hold all the answers nor all the beauty that life has in store for us. We have a greater consciousness that cannot be accessed in the usual ways we are taught.

Many people  are looking beyond medical and psychological healing methods effective ways to work with anxious and depressive energies, to process traumas and shed burdens, blockages, and baggage that hold them back from being the best version of themselves. They are looking for different, ways to help them navigate these tumultuous times, find meaning, and learn how to access their personal power.

Shamans regularly affirm that their main job is to remind people that life, first of all, is sacred.  When we speak of "wellness" and "personal growth" it starts there, with this reminder. This is often not easy, when we are buffeted by the so-called rules of life for success, for love, and for health that are often based in fear rather than sacredness.

I believe that, in your personal journey, ancient shamanic practices, ideas and techniques can offer powerful catalysts for living in healthier, more emotionally balanced ways, and help deliver meaning and beauty to life. I have found this to be true in my own journey of 35+ years, and in my more than 20 years of working with students and clients.  So, here is my invitation: explore my site, see what you think, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

About Jaime Meyer

I am a shamanic practitioner. My healing and teaching work draws on 30+ years of shamanic study with a variety of teachers from several cultures. The purpose of shamanic work is to help you transform suffering and return you to a holistic and healthy relationship with your yourself, with your sacred life, and with the sacred world. As a practitioner, I draw on the wisdom and medicine of my teachers' lineages, adapted for the world I occupy.

Shamanic healing isn’t about having learned a strange technique or two. Rather, it’s about building a strong relationship with helping spirits. That practice takes time, sacrifice, and commitment, but it can be incredibly powerful and life-changing.

I don't call myself a shaman, out of respect to indigenous shamans, and because that word has largely become meaningless as it it used by so many people as a marketing term. I invite you to read more about my training and lineage.

What I Offer

  • What Is a Shaman?

The word "shaman" refers to someone who carries spiritual medicine, and uses it to help restore balance between the spirit world and the material world. Shamans view the world as an interplay between subtle energies. They are masters of vision in both the material and spiritual realms, and they guide others to create and bring into being a powerful vision for their own life.

While many common shamanic practices are found worldwide, the word shaman comes from the Tungus tribe of Siberia, and was popularized by European anthropologists in the 19th century to describe any indigenous healer.  Shaman is often translated as "one who knows," or "one who sees in the dark." Unfortunately, the word "shaman" has become almost meaningless in the modern-day western world and is grossly overused, often as a magical sounding marketing term, and too often by people with little or no actual training.  I explore these ideas more fully in my book, Healing With Shamanism.

I believe if you were not raised inside a shamanic/indigenous culture, you should not call yourself a shaman. “Shamanic Practitioner” is a clumsy term and somewhat dry, but I use it. I actually just like to call myself a “worker” - someone who works with the spirits, and someone who is worked by Spirit.

    My Book

Drumming The Soul Awake is far more than a book about drum circles. It’s about how the Holy Spirit is at play in our lives, how it cajoles us to become something different, something more, something we know we already are.

It’s about how that Spirit dresses up in a variety of costumes in order to move us and change us. Meyer takes us into that ephemeral place where play meets prayer, where laughter meets awe, where the soul speaks clearly.
