Year-Long Shamanism Training Program 2018
Gather your power. Learn techniques. Open to Spirit. Live with beauty.
"The awe, joy, and wonder this program has brought into my life have helped heal wounds that years of therapy couldn't touch. The community that Jaime has helped my fellow participants and me create is the most nourishing, accepting, and loving community I've ever been a part of. The readings, teachings, stories, and ceremonies have helped me become stronger and more grounded in my values and spiritual beliefs. This is an amazing program for anyone looking to build up their own personal practices and beliefs rooted in Celtic and/or shamanic traditions." - CB, 2017 participant
Note: as of January 4, some dates for this program have changed.
The dates listed below are final.
This year-long program will help you grow and stretch your inner life in a supportive community committed to confidentiality and mutual trust. You'll apply healing to old personal and ancestral wounds and take practical shamanic techniques that you can integrate into your daily life - including your work life and relationships. You'll do this work in a small community committed to confidentiality and mutual trust.
Each weekend dives deep into teachings and shamanic practice, and culminates in deep ceremony designed to open your vision and release, cleanse and transform stored emotional patterns from this life and past lives. Between weekends you'll recieve assigned readings, prayers, meditations, poems, songs and personal ceremonial work to continually stretch and grow.
You will learn core shamanic practices like shamanic journeying, working with the spirits of nature, and creating your own spiritual practice. You'll learn about conducting core ceremonial work like working with your personal altar, and working the Directions (the Medicine wheel). You'll learn prayer techniques that you can adapt for yourself, as well as many beautiful prayers and songs, poems, meditations and healing practices. Much of the content will be drawn from rich Celtic tradition, but many streams pour into the teaching and healing work (see below).
Most of all, you will grow your trust in your own personal power, and learn to be guided by Spirit - because that is the core shamanic practice. With humility and respect you'll learn how to live with an open heart, aligned with Mother Nature and her creatures, the sun and moon, the stars and galaxies, the deep sea, and with the Love-Wisdom that flows from it all. In other words:
In this program you'll learn:
Techniques: including setting protection for yourself and others, structuring ceremony, working with material tools like the drum, rattle, feathers, bones, rocks and altar, practices like shamanic "journeying," power songs and prayers, and working with the energy body.
Ideas: include working with non-material helpers like spiritual guides, the elements, the medicine wheel, and the Faeries. It includes learning mythology, metaphor, and concepts, drawn chiefly from Celtic stories, but connected to cross-cultural shamanic philosophy.
Inner Power includes: meditation and prayer work, character building practices, ethics, boundaries, shadow work, intention setting and manifesting.
This program draws on my 30+ years of shamanic study and practice with a variety of teachers and it includes your disciplined individual visioning and reading, prayer and building relationship with Spirit(s).
My streams of influence include:
My two-year Celtic shamanism training program with Tom Cowan, as well as many other workshops and conversations with him over 15 years and years of reading. This program will include working deeply with a Celtic stories. You'll learn shamanic practices like working with the Faery realm, the three cauldrons of the body (energy work), Celtic wisdom sayings and poetry, Gaelic prayers and healing songs.
Years of study with Jose and Lena Stevens of The Power Path. Their background is grounded in Huichol and Shipibo practice as well as cross-cultural indigenous practice, psychology and other practices. My learning with them includes many journeys to Peru to work directly with Shipibo healers – the work I'm doing currently. From this stream I'll bring you the powerful tradition of singing healing prayers into the body, working with plant teachers and practices such as using rattles, bones and feathers as tools for prayer and healing. I'll also assign some of Jose's books that weave shamanic practice and counselling psychology into a useful practices for self-development.
My seminary training (I have an M.A. in Theology and the Arts from United Seminary of The Twin Cities). For me, this rigorous academic training has been a good antidote to being overtaken by narcissistic spiritual woo-woo. This stream offers rational, philosophical and historical substance to your training.
My many years as writer and theatre artist that has taught me to be boldly imaginative and to trust in uncertainty, process, doubt and difficulty, to revel in imagination as a sacred and blessing force and to get past the negative voices and "just do the work."
You don't need previous shamanic experience to be admitted to this program, but if you have experience, it will be deepened by this study. If you are not accepted to the program your deposit will be refunded in whole. Please know that I may also ask for a phone or in-person conversation as part of your application process.
